About Plant Factory Business
We conduct the business by ourselves from the design and the operation
for cultivation facility using artificial lights to the sale of crops.
We can totally support such as selections of lights and instruction about
cultivation method and so on in the business model for plant factory.
About Life Science business
The enclosed-type plant factory has problems such as high-costs of the
initial investment and electrical charges for lights and air conditioner; however,
this enclosed-type plant factory can give you stable crop quality and quantity
through all seasons.
For the last 10 years, the research about “functional food” has progressed
and permeated in the field of preventive medical and food.
We consider that the [vegetal functional food] is the important essence
for the life science business, and we also think the plant factory business
has potential for not only cultivation but also life science business.
About The Control of Light Quality
We think how to make the best choice of light for the enclosed-type plant
factory.
If you don’t consider light quality, you can use fluorescent light because
cost is low and maintenance is easy.
However, light control is very important technique when you need value-added
harvest with plant factory.
According to basic research of cultivation using the light control, blue
wavelength makes leafstalks’ shape good and red wavelength makes photosynthesis
high. We actually adopt HEFL light units bluish light in the cultivation
of “Tsuburina [ice plant].” Tsuburina has much functional ingredient in
their stalks and crispy taste through this technique. If you want to grow
leaves, you need to use red wavelength to increase weight of crops.
We think it is important to choice plant to glow in the plant factory and
to consider if this plant need light control or not.

The Emerson effect is the increase in the rate of photosynthesis after exposure to light of wavelength 670 nm far red light and 700-800 nm, red light respectively. When simultaneously exposed to light of both wavelengths the rate of photosynthesis increases.
